A very controversial topic in the medical world is the topic about wether Blood Donations should be rewarded. I believe that Blood Donations should be rewarded because it would increase blood donations and help people with financial difficulties but I also disagree with this topic as it would waste a lot of the government’s money which could be used for something else.
Biography:
Blood Donation is a very simple procedure where you volountarily give your blood for somebody who needs it. Blood is the only organ in the body that appears as a liquid (Pearson, 2018) and Blood Donations can be used for major medical problems like cancer, it can be used for those undergoing surgery, traumatic accidents, burns and pregnant women and mothers (myDr.com, 2018). The Red Cross claims that 1/3 donations are used for cancer and that 1 blood donation can save 3 lives. However, a survey showed that one in three Australians will require a blood transfusion in their life but only one in 30 Australians donate Blood (Sydney Morning Herald, 2018) even though the average sized adult has 5 litres of blood.
Supporting Argument:
Many people are strongly convinced that rewards should be given for blood donors. This could encourage blood donors and could save many lives. According to the Red Cross, 1 in 3 Australians will require a blood donation in their life but only 1 in 30 donate. Therefore, rewarding blood donations, could make a big difference in the life of many people who die due to lack of blood. Experts belief that if all the qualified donors donated blood 2-3 times a year, there would be no blood shortage (Studymoose.com, 2018). According to the Mayo Clinic, people who suffer from Sickle Cell Anemia, require blood on a frequent basis
