Academic Success Essay

Academic Success Paper 1 Academic success is very important and almost essential to living. Without academic success there are not very many job opportunities that will lead to living a successful career or stable lifestyle. Likewise this is very essential and can be utilized by each and every individual. Starting now, I will tell you where I am in my academic career, where I have been and where I see myself by the fall of the 2012 semester.

Summer 2008 I began college as a freshman looking forward to all the new thing that I was going to be learning and also looking forward to all the new people I was going to be meeting. Overall I was overly excited about the new environment. It made me feel a sense of independence that I had never felt before. I was out there on my own and I was ready to make great things happen. Beginning as a freshman I had so many things that I wanted to accomplish. I wanted to become a dental hygienist, a cosmetologist, a pharmacy technician, a nurse and a wardrobe stylist.

I knew that if I worked hard I could accomplish and achieve being anything that I wanted. As semesters rolled onward I began to accomplish things that I wanted: pharmacy technician, accomplished; associates degree, accomplished; cosmetologist, accomplished; certified nursing assistant, accomplished. I achieved so many great things but I still wanted more. I felt that there was more out there for me to achieve and I wanted to have it all. If there was more to be learned, I wanted to learn it and be a part of it.

With that being said, I worked and I strived for more great things. By spring 2012 I decided that I wanted to go back to school to become a nurse. I was excited about the semester beginning, but I actually bit off a little bit more than I could chew, hypothetically speaking. In some of my classes I was doing exceptionally well, but in others, not as much. My first semester back I had taken a total of fifteen hours and I was also enrolled in a CNA program at East Mississippi Community College. I thought I had everything under control but boy was I wrong about that.

Some of my classes were not getting the attention that I should have been giving them and my grades began to decline. I was putting so much time into my nursing classes that I did not have time to focus on the others. None the less; my actions landed me on academic probation. I became depressed and wondered what I could possibly to improve my grades. My grade point average dropped to a 2. 1 and it was mandatory that all nursing majors have at least a 2. 5grade point average. I began to think of ways to improve my grades and also ways that I could have adequate timing for all of my classes.

At this point in my career I am currently enrolled in two summer courses which consist of academic recovery and human growth and development. The academic recovery course is to help me overcome my academic issues that resulted in me getting on academic probation, and the Human Growth and Development course is required for my nursing major. By the end of the fall 2012 courses I see myself fully recovered from my academic probation with a higher grade point average and hopefully enrolled into a Licensed Practical Nursing program.

This will be a major accomplishment for me if I am able to achieve my goals. To accomplish these actions, I’m going to work hard to gain and maintain a desirable grade point average and stay ahead of my studies. As I have stated before, academic success is very important almost essential to living a stable lifestyle. I’m working very hard on improving my grades and maintain them as well. As of now, I have told you where I have been in my academic career; where I am as of now, and also where I plan to be by the end of the 2012 semester.
