Despond Morris, a honored anthropologist his work most well known to the general public by his remarkable product The Naked Ape, which is a book about the metaphoric thinking between apes and humans. He uses his own anthropological point of view and terminology to represent his knowledge of true altruism, and he also grotesquely indicate humans selfishness through a mankind behavior. In the other hand, P. W.Alexander, a writer and a cheer who oftentimes dedicated to community services, her article Christmas at Home, she talks about her own personal heartwarming life story and how her family tradition on holidays of acts of altruism have Impacted her life and career.

Each piece was based off of act of altruism but the Intense logics between the two authors are slightly different than one another. By logic, Altruism Behavior written by Despond Morris, a scholar of anthropology held a more accountable and reliable foundation and analysis. This piece written by Morris is extremely credible and acceptable.

He confidently affirms altruism is being self-sacrifice: his piece employs analogy with human being instinct of choosing an individual to save out of the fire; he displays “evolution theory that all animals must be entirely selfish in their actions even if they appear to be their most self-sacrificing and par. 3) This evidence from his article conveys his firm position and views upon altruism, he believes all animals are born selfish even If they portrait the opposites on their appearances. Moreover, humans never perform self- sacrifice since they are already born selfish. The author directly pointed out “selfless parental care is nothing more than genetic self-care. “(Morris par. 7) All animals become selfish biologically because we are genetically egotistic. Morris demonstrated his point by using his hypothesis, he assume that most human being would immediate save their genetic rather than others. Logically, this concluded humans cannot be altruistic since them only self-centered rather than self-sacrifice.

Me see ourselves as ‘persons’ rather as gene machines’ that we think of these acts of love as unselfish rather than selfish. Morris par. 9) he has clearly stated his position as anthropologist that human is gene machines so their acts are all greedily egocentric.

The demonstration Is credible and associable- Just as his perspective is firm and distinct. Base off the Information from the chart he developed, he informed altruism as doing something “harms me” but “helps you” and It has to be out of loving devotion, self-sacrifice and patriotism. Altruistic Behavior describes author’s perspective on altruism as “humans are all born without altruism”.His grand n anthropologist has given him advantages to his point of views on altruism illustrates all human beings are selfish in general by their natural born instinct. In the other hand, Christmas at Home, written by P. W. Alexander, is further base off a privy self experience rather then professional grasp.

Author obtained her logic of altruism from her family tradition. From her passage, she informed her premise as altruism does not eternally come from the good of ones heart. “Thanksgiving and Christmas were equally painful. ” (Alexander par.

3).As a child, author had always Sino the holidays as achingly anticipations, because she has never experience a real holiday like other children do. As a child, she is extremely unwilling to serve with her parents and has no longer anticipates towards any special occasions and holidays. Ere vital turning point finally came down of her vision when “Grandmother came and took off her white lacy gloves and served grab. Y to poor people..

. ” (Alexander par. 6) as she witnesses her godly grandmother was willing to take off her gloves and served, Alexander has finally certified such service as her family tradition.

P. W. Alexander presents the act of altruism because of her family tradition rather than from her pure heart. Author’s emotion has immensely changed by watching her grandmother’s action of altruism. In her final paragraph she mentioned “l do this not out of any sense of duty or obligation; I do it because it is my family tradition..

. I have too much” (Alexander par. 11) absorbing from her experiences from her childhood, she learned to help others who are helpless by watching her family presenting their act of kindness on holidays concluded P. W.Alexander act of altruism is sculpted by her family tradition. Her perspective of altruism, unlike Morris’, is generally cast after her family instead of following after professional theories separate Alexander perspective and Morris’. Both of these phenomenal pieces convey by the two outstanding authors, they held different logics in general due to their background differences. Background may take up a huge role of affecting authors’ perspective in certain ways such as analogy, interpretation, demonstration and how they choose to present the action.

Overall, by enhancing the knowledge from both of these authors, true altruism is another way to express caring and make sacrifice for others welfare or can be something even more than that. Moreover, altruistic actions can be perform anytime in life, whether it is inherent by family tradition or it might be impossible for a human to solidly operate such act. Both authors have demonstrated their own perspective of the function of altruism.

There is no clear distinguish between right or wrong but as long as they had pursuit the meaning of altruism and genuinely helping others to approach a better life.
