The importance of innovation EPORTFOLIOBY:Estela Morina Key Concepts: DevelopmentRelated Concepts: ErgonomicsGlobal Context: Scientific and technical innovation : adaptation, ingenuity and progressStatement of Inquiry: Applying scientific information when designing and adapting products can help to improve a user’s experience.Factual:Criterion A: Inquiring and Analysingi. The ProblemMost of today’s kitchens use appliances that are not at all ecological Our environment is constantly changing. There is no denying in that. However,as our environment changes ,we have to do something as fast as possible to help it/We can try by doing easy stuffs which can help the nature, the place that we are living and the future generation.
But what can we do to have a better environment? To pay attention to how we use the water,we need to save it,To not use cars all the time but to walk,Recycle,Compost, planting trees etc.The thing that I decided to do is to plant trees.I am doing it in the center of a city in Albania and i think that it will help a little bit the environment, but if all of us would plant trees we would live absolutely more healthy.
Some of the benefits that we take from planting the trees are:-improving the environment.Planting a tree is one of the easiest way to improve the environment and beautify your surroundings.Plants filter pollutants, absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen and help fight soil erosion.-reduce energy costs which is a benefit for the nature.Fortunately, there are a lot of spaces which have been without any trees, flowers or something and now they are parks. This is a thing which has started to happen in Albania dr the last 5 years. Even Though we do not have lot of parks here ,but if you compare with the past we have more.
For example the country I used to live before was not very big but the number of trees is not very big.And about this project I decided to plant trees.Normally with the help of my dad.I think that this would have a lot of benefits and helps the environment directly.Criterion B:So ,as I said before in criterion A I decided to plant trees.Actually,it is in the center of the town and it was empty and it looked very bad.
Imagine that you do not have any green tree in the center of the town. How polluted can the air be?In fact,The country I used to live Fier is the most polluted in Albania for a main of factors.First,Fier is known for oil and there come a lot of people and destroy the environment by taking all the oil underground.
There is also a river which is supposed to be clean but it is not.All along the river there are a lot of buildings in the river’s stature. Also the people there throw their garbage along the river and by this the river is very but very dirty. And it smells terrible. And that is why i decided with my dad to plant the trees in there. And I think that this can help the environment.Criteria specifications I will plant trees.
I will plant trees in the country I used to live before,in Fier.Take pictures.Add them on this documentI will take of the pictures before and now as evidence of what I did.I will use soil and dirt to plant them. Targeted area: Fier is a city and a municipality in southwest in Albania. Fier is 11 km (7 mi) from the ruins of the ancient city of Apollonia. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 85,845.Geographically, it is located on the center of the country surrounded by hills.
The city is located some 16 kilometres east of the Adriatic Sea and 100 kilometres south of Tirana. The ruins of Apollonia are situated in the Fier region. Apollonia was founded in 588 BCE by Greek colonists from Corfu and Corinth,[2] on a site initially occupied by Illyrian tribes. The history of Fire is bound up with that of the oil, gas and bitumen deposits nearby. The presence of asphalt and burning escapes of natural gas in the vicinity was recorded as early as the 1st century AD. Dioscorides, in Materia Medica, describes lumps of bitumen in the adjacent river Seman, and the concentrated pitch on the banks of the Vjosë river Strabo, writing in about AD 17 states: Benefits from planting trees:Trees combat climate changeExcess carbon dioxide (CO2) caused by many factors is a building up in our atmosphere and contributing to climate change.
Trees absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air. In one year, an acre of mature trees absorbs the amount of CO2 produced when you drive your car 26,000 miles.Trees reduce violenceNeighborhoods and homes that are barren have shown to have a greater incidence of violence in and out of the home than their greener counterparts. Trees and landscaping help to reduce the level of fear.Trees clean the airTrees absorb odors and pollutant gases (nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur dioxide and ozone) and filter particulates out of the air by trapping them on their leaves and bark.
Trees provide oxygenIn one year an acre of mature trees can provide enough oxygen for 18 people.Trees cool the streets and the cityAverage temperatures in Los Angeles have risen 6°F in the last 50 years as tree coverage has declined and the number of heat-absorbing roads and buildings has increased.Trees cool the city by up to 10°F, by shading our homes and streets, breaking up urban “heat islands” and releasing water vapor into the air through their leaves.Trees conserve energyThree trees placed strategically around a single-family home can cut summer air conditioning needs by up to 50 percent.
By reducing the energy demand for cooling our houses, we reduce carbon dioxide and other pollution emissions from power plants.Trees save waterShade from trees slows water evaporation from thirsty lawns. Most newly planted trees need only fifteen gallons of water a week. As trees transpire, they increase atmospheric moisture.
Trees help prevent water pollutionTrees reduce runoff by breaking rainfall thus allowing the water to flow down the trunk and into the earth below the tree. This prevents stormwater from carrying pollutants to the ocean. When mulched, trees act like a sponge that filters this water naturally and uses it to recharge groundwater supplies.Trees help prevent soil erosionOn hillsides or stream slopes, trees slow runoff and hold soil in place.Trees shield children from ultraviolet raysSkin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Trees reduce UV-B exposure by about 50 percent, thus providing protection to children on school campuses and playgrounds – where children spend hours outdoors.
Trees provide foodAn apple tree can yield up to 15-20 bushels of fruit per year and can be planted on the tiniest urban lot. Aside from fruit for humans, trees provide food for birds and wildlife.Trees healStudies have shown that patients with views of trees out their windows heal faster and with less complications. Children with ADHD show fewer symptoms when they have access to nature. Exposure to trees and nature aids concentration by reducing mental fatigue. Trees reduce violenceNeighborhoods and homes that are barren have shown to have a greater incidence of violence in and out of the home than their greener counterparts. Trees and landscaping help to reduce the level of fear.
Trees mark the seasonsIs it winter, spring, summer or fall? Look at the trees.Trees create economic opportunitiesTrees are teachers and playmatesTree plantings provide an opportunity for community involvement and empowerment that improves the quality of life in our neighborhoods. All cultures, ages, and genders have an important role to play at a tree planting or tree care event.Trees add unityTrees as landmarks can give a neighborhood a new identity and encourage civic pride.Trees provide a canopy and habitat for wildlifeSycamore and oak are among the many urban species that provide excellent urban homes for birds, bees, possums and squirrels.Trees block thingsTrees can mask concrete walls or parking lots, and unsightly views. They muffle sound from nearby streets and freeways, and create an eye-soothing canopy of green. Trees absorb dust and wind and reduce glare.
Trees provide woodIn suburban and rural areas, trees can be selectively harvested for fuel and craft wood.Trees increase property valuesThe beauty of a well-planted property and its surrounding street and neighborhood can raise property values by as much as 15 percent.Trees increase business trafficStudies show that the more trees and landscaping a business district has, the more business will flow in. A tree-lined street will also slow traffic – enough to allow the drivers to look at the store fronts instead of whizzing by.

Then i took a picture from the internet from one tree and added that there and completed the whole figure.I practiced it for a couple of time like two or three times.TaskDescriptionResources NeededDate PlannedTime NeededRemarksDecide which is the best kind of treesI am going to search about the kind of tree I’m gonna use. This cause a lot of negative things.Especially,in the country I planted them the we do not have green spaces at all.S that is why I decided to do this thing about my SA.everyone know the benefits of the trees, and I mentioned them before too. I think that everyone needs to look a beautiful nature,it remove your stresses and your bad thoughts.YOu feel so relaxed.
Unfortunately,we here do not have the luck of living in a place like that ,but if all of us can try to do it better than we can make it better actually.I founded very fun and i felt so good that I was helping the environment, the poeple. It was the biggest help but at least I did something.SO by planting and saving the trees you can take just positive things. You can start making a change even in your home,by painting your tree in the balcony of your home and take care of it.Criterion D: EvaluatingTo test my product I am going to create a google form. The questions in the google form will be:Final Answers:Final resultsMost of the responses towards my product were all good and very positive.
I think my product left the final impact I wanted it to leave. It may look confusing and weird as to how planting different trees ended as the final solution for such a big issues that needs immediate solving, but, I believe that this solution really portrays the message needed to everyone, people will like these places, ones that help us achieve and better and healthier world. If turned into reality the models would be very useful to creating a solution for this problem and the space required for such places is almost everywhere in Albania we are very underdeveloped and we are in need of such spaces. My solution could have been even better improved if I had chosen a more wider range of different kinds of trees etc, I could also have been using better studying other kinds of trees and taken more time to study them and the enviornments they are suitable for.
By adding all of these together my final product would have been even better and matched up to my criterias and helped me achieve a much better and more thought out final product. I could have taken more time to research online and find better websites that would have better suited my product. By the next time I work on a product similar to this I should have fixed all of these issues, hence having a better end product.I think my audience was really impacted by my product, it is very enviormental friendly and everyone should like it, since it has a big impact on our society. All the information provided by me would also be a big help in liking this enviornment. To present my final model I would just invite people to my finished forest of planted trees.
I would do it open to everyone and prepare a presentation for the children and everyone to see since it will have a big impact on our society. I could also post posters everywhere for people to see and learn more about this final product.Overall I think it was a successful one.
