Who should live, and who should die? Who has the right to make these decisions? Abortion is the murder of an unborn baby. It is a procedure that is performed during the early stages of pregnancy. Abortion used to be illegal, but is now legal. On one side are the Pro-Choice supporters mostly consisting of feminist, teen mothers, rape, and incest victims. And on the other side are the Pro-Life supporters, mostly consisting of Christians and Catholics. The murder of unborn infants is wrong and should be illegal.
Is an unborn baby alive? What is alive? A baby’s heart begins beating between 18 and 25 days. By 8 weeks the brain and all body systems are present and a month later begin to work. The baby would be fully developed before the pregnancy is even noticeable. Webster’s Dictionary defines Alive as existing. And from the moment of contraception, the baby exists.
Adoption is a practical alternative to abortion and accomplishes the same result. And with over a million American families looking to adopt a child, there is no such thing as an unwanted child. One could choose adoption, they would still get a chance to hold the baby and see him. See the life she created. they can choose the family and even if they want to contact the baby. If one just aborts a baby they can never look back and think of how beautiful he was and know he is with a loving family. With adoption a family that really wishes for a baby would get their dream. Abortion would never give him the chance to know a family.
Those who choose abortions are often minors or young women with lifelong regrets afterwards. Compared to pregnant women who had their babies, pregnant women who aborted were 6-7 times more likely to die of suicide. About 20 % of all abortions in the U.S. today are performed on teens. Teenage abortion has been related to a number of physical and psychological problems, including drug and alcohol abuse, suicide attempts and suicidal ideation, and other self-destructive behaviors. Abortion can damage reproductive organs and cause long-term and sometimes permanent problems that can put future pregnancies at risk.
Yet in some cases abortion could be considered understandable. In the case of rape or incest, forcing the woman to keep the child would cause more psychological harm to the woman. Teenagers who become mothers are more likely to leave of school, receive not enough prenatal care, rely on public assistance to raise the child, develop health problems, or end up divorced.
The murder of unborn infants is wrong and should be illegal. In conclusion abortion is wrong, one would never kill a 5 year old son, so why kill an unborn one? There will always be another option out there. Don’t just take the easy way out and regret it for the rest of your life.
