Daily life in ancient Egypt revolved around the Nile and the fertile land along its banks. The yearly flooding of the Nile enriched the soil and brought good harvests and wealth to the land. The people of ancient Egypt built mudpack homes in villages and in the country. They grew some of their own food and traded in the villages for the food and goods they could not produce. Most ancient Egyptians worked as field hands, farmers, craftsmen and scribes. A small group of people were nobles.
Together, these different groups of people made up the population of ancient Egypt. A nobleman’s family and A farmer’s family: I read two stories about two different families. It was quite interesting to view the differences and the similarities. The nobleman and his family are wealthy as showed in the story they wake up in fine linen sheets and wear fine linen clothes, leather sandals, and glass Jewelry. Both the nobleman and his wife are helped by servants to get bathed and dressed for the day.
The children are woken up and dressed by servants also. They gather to eat in the morning to eat bread and fruit sitting on cushions at a low table. The nobleman goes to see about his land and for lunch with n overseer of his have meat, bread, and beer. While the wife over sees the preparations of their banquet later that evening. After all is done, she goes to the garden to get out of the heat and enjoys watching her children play with their toys.
The banquet came that night they greeted their guests with gifts and fine food, had a grand time then went to bed. Then the story of the fame and his family, he wakes up along with his wife at the same time in coarse linens. They wash up and dress in coarse linen clothes wearing sandals made of reeds. The wife began doing her daily horse and wakes the children for breakfast bread, fruit. The fame starts his daily wheat farming to be able to bundle and pay his fee to the temple which he uses their fields to farm.
He and his workers shared meat, bread, beer for lunch for completing the task that morning for the payment of using the fields. While he is farming the farmer’s wife is making bread and the children doing their chores. At the end of the day she and her children walked to the river to get water. Then the farmer’s wife prepared a small dinner of meat, bread, and wine. The farmer and his wife put the children to bed and went to sleep.
