Every Shakespearean tragedy has a tragic hero. A tragic hero is a character, often times the protagonist, who has earned themselves great sympathy, but they have made decisions that lead up to their own downfall. “The Crucible”, written by Arthur Miller, John Proctor is depicted as the tragic hero. Proctor has many traits that characterize him as a hero, and like all other tragic heros, he has created flaws for himself to lead to his demise.
Throughout Shakespearean plays and in other pieces of literature, tragic heroes have many like traits that make them special. John Proctor was a very honest man. He has earned himself a good reputation and was a very well-respected man throughout his town, Salem. Proctor was also a very well-known man, and
