Healthcare Support Services Summary Catherine Lewis University of Phoenix HSC/212 Tiffany Smith March 13, 2013 Healthcare Support Services The Department of Health and Human Services is a vital part of society. This administration ensures the welfare of families to make sure issues are resolved efficiently and promptly whether external or internal. On some state and local level, The Department of Human Resources (DHH) is known as The Administration for Children & Family (AFC) and on others their known as Department of Children & Family (DCF) (Administration for Children and Families, 2012).However, the mission of both are the same, to provide the public citizens with services that focus on human services which promote child and adult protection, income (TANF), stronger families, and self-efficiency. However, for the purpose of this paper the writer plans to give a clear description of The Department of Health and Human Services, demographics of those they serve, types of services the organization offers, and the reason why I chose this agency.
Description of the Department of Health and Human Services The Department of Health and Human Services is the principal agency responsible for protecting the health of all Americans and providing vital human services, for those who cannot afford healthcare and financial support and are least able to help themselves. They are also responsible for almost a quarter of all Federal money spent and administer more grant dollars than all other Federal agencies combined.The Department of Health and Human Services help created the Administration for Children & Families (ACF) as a major operating division in 1991 (Department of Human Services, 2012). This new administration merged with employees to help with forming the Family Support Administration (FSA) and the Office of Human Development Services (OHDS) (Administration for Children and Families, 2012). However, these agencies targeted groups include Native Americans, persons with developmental disabilities, refugees, and legalized aliens.
The role of this organization is to provide some financial, social, and economic programs for vulnerable children and families and administer federal funds for short-term. This organization also provides education, training, and employment for long-term stability and helps with abused and neglected children. Demographics of those they serve DHH targets people of all cultures and demographics. DHH focus is to help the elderly, children, and the least fortunate. In making decisions and choices DHH takes into account the individual’s Culture on how society contributes to a person’s beliefs and values.DHR looks at a person’s Social Factor such as his or her religion, family, and social status to determine the behavior of an individual in the marketplace.
DHH looks at his or her Personal Factor such as a person’s age, occupation, and lifestyle, which can influence a person’s buying in the marketplace. DHR looks at a person’s Psychological Factors, which influences the consumer, according to his or her beliefs, attitudes, and the way they were raised in society. Types of services the agency offersDHR oversees affects consumer choice in health care marketplace by providing financial assistance to States, community-base organizations, and academic facilities to provide services needed, training, technical assistance and carry out research to better each individual.
DHH mission is to provide customer-focused human services that promote child and adult self-sufficiency (“Department of Health and Human Services,” 2012). HHS accomplishes its mission through several hundred programs and initiatives that cover a wide spectrum of activities, serving the American public at every stage of life.DHH focuses on numerous programs that support Georgia families. Some other programs DHH offer to families with low-income are medical services, which are, provide in the community. DHH is well known for assisting families with public housing assistance to ensure families are living in healthy conditions.
They are known for assisting children to accommodate their security. Some services DHH helps provides to the community are educating the public about people living with disability and the abilities of persons with disabilities.DHH helps with promoting affordable and available housing opportunities for persons with disabilities. They help with employment opportunities in the community, integration, in assistive technology, transportation for the sick patients to and from healthcare visits and health and wellness programs. Why I chose this agency I chose this agency because of all the positive work they do for the community. They provide help with shelter, food, education, healthcare and some financial support to people who come from different cultures and demographics with no discrimination.DHR helps signal parents find and locate non-custodial parents, confirming paternity, establishing, and enforcing child support. I have friends and family who has needed and used these services from time to time as well as myself and I am grateful that the government has put these services in place for help and support.
DHH helps women with unplanned pregnancy of all ages. They help by providing free doctor care, wic. DHH helps provide affordable medical insurance for those who cannot afford to pay for health insurance. In conclusion: The Department of Health and Human Services is a vital part of society.I chose this organization because of all the positive work they do for the community.
