Malaysian Resources Corp. Bhd. is an investment holding company in Kuala Lumpur. It primary engages in the construction related activities, environmental engineering, and property development & investment. MRCB is considered a government-linked company because its 38% share is hold by EPF (significant shareholder). Moreover, MRCB was established in 1968 as Perak Carbide Corporation Sdn Bhd that is a carbide manufacturer (went public in 1971). In 1981, it shifted the focus of its business to property development and took the company’s name on MRCB. KL Sentral is one of the projects that developed and constructed by MRCB led the consortium of Keretapi Tanah Melayu and Pembinaan Redzai toto. This project is the largest transportation hub in Malaysia and the intersection of KTM Komuter, ETS, Rapid Rail (LRT and monorail), Express Rail Link to Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the newly opened KVMRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang line. The four main segments of MRCB are Property Development ; Investment, Engineering, Construction ; Environment, Infrastructure ; Concession and Facilities Management.
In the Property development ; investment segment, it involved the Land’s property developments of MRCB which provides transportation hub, retail assets, high rise office towers, hotels, luxury residential and commercial properties. MRCB is a mixed portfolio of integrated commercial, and residential developments anchored around transportation hubs. In addition, MRCB was pioneer of Transit Oriented Development in Malaysia because MRCB through its flagship and award winning Kuala Lumpur Sentral CBD project, which has attracted some of the world’s leading corporations as tenants due to its excellent transportation connectivity. It plans to responsible to future TOD projects such as Penang Sentral, PJ Sentral Garden City, Cyberjaya City Centre and Kwasa Sentral, will feature excellent transportation connectivity at their core.
The Engineering, Construction ; Environment division is responsible in designing, building, and contracting to give and retain complete control over its own property development projects to help MRCB ensure that the project’s vision is fully realised. Besides constructing world class commercial and residential buildings, this division also has an excellent track record in transportation infrastructure, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of high voltage power transmission projects that comprise substations, underground cabling and overhead transmission lines. Its environment business undertakes the responsibilities of the rehabilitation and flood mitigation of rivers and coastal areas.
Furthermore, Infrastructure & Concession Division included project developments on concession projects, and environmental business in the areas of beach, river, and coastline rehabilitation. It also comprises the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL), which handed over to the Government of Malaysia after its concession period ended 31 December 2017. Currently, MRCB is negotiating a mutual termination agreement and settlement sum. The goals of Infrastructure, Concession & Environment Division is to achieve zero major accident (for a start two million men hours), to deliver projects within the prescribed time, budget, quality and health & safety measures, to diversify business into related activities within 5 years, fully conversant and control in the operation and coordination of projects through efficient contract and procurement practices.The Facilities Management segment offer security services at transportation hubs, high profile commercial and residential complexes.
The goals of Infrastructure, Concession & Environment Division are to deliver projects within the prescribed time, quality, budget and health & safety measures, to achieve zero major accident (for a start two million men hours), to diversify business into related activities within 5 years, fully conversant and control in the operation and coordination of projects through efficient contract and procurement practices. However, the MRCB Prasarana’s objectives are to establish new business development unit, explore more new projects, setting up a strong contract ; procurement personnel’s and department, improving corporate Image, get the certification of ISO 9001, deliver project in timely, quality and within budget, zero accident & complaints on site and fulfills customer’s satisfaction customers.
MRCB has commitment that it will carry out its corporate social responsibility to improve the lives of the communities we touch and serve. The corporate social responsibility activities of MRCB are focused on the education, community and philanthropic contribution. MRCB has implemented adoption schools activities in Malaysia, provided the financial aid to underprivileged students and carry out back to school programme that will contribute school uniforms, bags, shoes and stationeries to the school. For the example, MRCB currently implemented adoption of Primary schools activities in Perak, Penang, Pahang and the Federal Territories under Yayasan PINTAR. The corporate social responsibility activities of MRCB about community are given the support to Charitable organisations like Trusts ; Foundations that are relevant to children and youth, Kuala Lumpur Homeless Transit Centre in Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur as well as the underprivileged such as Handicapped, orphanages, the Blind, down syndrome, single mothers and the elderly. Under MRCB, it also has the community based associations and voluntary groups. Moreover, MRCB 1Wilayah Persekutuan Library in Lembah Pantai is already open at the Kampung Kerinchi People’s Housing Project (PPR) flats in Jalan Pantai Dalam. MRCB is very active in the charity contribution activities. For instance, it will provides the natural disaster assistance such as flood, drought etc to the natural disaster area. It also very supports on the non-governmental organization like Mercy and corporate social responsibility activities of government-linked companies such as Sejahtera SLIM, and Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju).
