The prevailing theme of appearance vs

The prevailing theme of appearance vs. reality is depicted on behalf of the deceiving characters in Hamlet who behave so as to appear to be sincere, yet in fact contradict their actions, in order to reveal the innermost thoughts of the characters in the play.
Hamlet lauds Horatio for his integrity and passive nature, which he himself lacks. He admires Horatio’s self control as, “thou art e’en as just a man…as e’er my conversation cop’d withal”. Hamlet desires to possess Horatio’s tolerance and peace of mind.
In the play, the King and Queen show great fondness towards each other. Why do you think Hamlet had them depicted so affectionate?
