Know the health and safety policies and procedures of the work setting
1 . Outline the health and safety policies and procedures of the work setting
The health and safety policies and procedures are put in place to make sure that all the children and staff are protected. In my work setting we follow the statutory framework for the EYFS (early years foundation stage). It is vital as all staff must all be suitable to work with the children this mean CRB checks, have all the up to date qualifications, Training and skills. It is very important that the equipment that the children use is fit for purpose this includes indoor and outdoor equipment. Risk assessments are carried out daily.
2. Identify the lines of responsibility and reporting for health and safety in the work setting
In my work setting my manager is responsible for ensuring that the health and safety is appropriate in the setting.
3 . Explain what risk assessment is and how this is managed in the work setting
A risk assessment is vital as this eliminates hazards which could take place in the preschool for example broken equipment,. risk assesments are there to provide protection for the children, staff and parents.
If there is ever an accident or incident involving a child it is always wrote down and logged and kept in storage.Within my setting if I ever feel the need to report a concern I will contact my manager as I have a responsibility to promote a safe and secure workplace.
