Marco Polo Essay
Marco Polo by Manuel Komroff is a detailed chronicle of Marco Polo’s travels throughout the world from Venice, Italy to many places in Asia such as Mongolia, China, and Sumatra. His work served as a map to where India is for Christopher Columbous
Marco Polo used location to help make his writing more usable for historians because if he were to say “I am in a palace” there are many palaces he could be in compared to him saying “I am in Kublai Khan’s palace in Xanadu. When I entered I saw two golden gates with engraved mongolian text saying “You Have Entered Greatness”. This makes his writing more usable since it gives a identifying factor to help historians relay information to other people such as archaeologists who can use the factors to find the lost palace.
